SDOC BKK COMP: THAI YOUTH

Eligibility
-
Submissions must be Documentaries. We accept all kinds of "Creative Documentary" that prioritize artistic expression and a unique directorial voice. Any subject matter is welcome.

Open to Thai students currently enrolled in the Thai education system. Applicants must be in Matthayom 6 (Grade/Year 12) or below.

All key crew members (Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Sound Recordist, Editor) must be active students in Thailand.

You must obtain permission or licenses to use all images, audio, likenesses and locations in your film before you submit your film.
-
No premiere status required.
-
The film’s completion date must not be before May, 2024.

Duration: Films must not exceed 30 minutes in total running time (including credits)

Video format: 4K or Full HD, H264 codec.

Sound: 2.0 or 5.1
-
Subtitles: Embedded English subtitles are mandatory for all submissions.
Preview copies of submitted works must be both streamable and downloadable.

SDOC BKK COMP: INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Eligibility

Open to both Thai and International university students. Applicants must be currently pursuing any Bachelor’s degree in any university.

All key crew members (Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Sound Recordist, Editor) must be active university students.

You must obtain permission or licenses to use all images, audio, likenesses and locations in your film before you submit your film.

No premiere status required.

The film’s completion date must not be before May, 2024.

SDOC BKK PITCH: THAI STUDENT
Submission Deadline: 20 JUNE 2026 at 23:59 (GMT +7)
Criteria:

The documentary project must not exceed 30 minutes in runtime.

The documentary project must be conducted in Thai.
-
Applicants must be a team of director and producer, who are citizens of Thailand.
-
Applicants must currently be high school or undergraduate students.
-
Applicants must be able to attend every workshop and pitching session on 22 - 23, 29 - 30 August.

The director and producer can only submit one project at maximum.
-
We do not accept documentary projects that are or have already been in production.
Terms and Conditions:

The documentary short film must be completed within one year of the award grant.
-
The award grant recipients are obligated to send an online viewing link to the festival as their confirmation of completion. The documentary short film must include the festival’s logo either in the opening or ending credits and on its official poster.
Submission Materials:
The application must be submitted in Thai and include the following information:

Documentary project’s synopsis (50 words max)

The application must submit a self-introductory video in which the director and producer are both featured. Within one minute only, they should talk about:

Brief introduction of themselves and their documentary project

Why they would like to pursue this documentary project

What they would like to achieve from this documentary project
