Thailand High School Documentary Competition

The Thailand High School Documentary Competition is dedicated to documentary works created by high school students across Thailand. The section encourages young creators to explore their communities, identities, environments, and everyday experiences through documentary storytelling.
The competition aims to support media literacy, creative expression, and the development of a new generation of young documentary filmmakers in Thailand.

Soraya Nakasuwan
Biography
Soraya is a Thai filmmaker, academic, and educator recognized for her work in documentary cinema and socially engaged media.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from Chulalongkorn University and later completed a master’s degree in History of Art (Twentieth Century) at Goldsmiths, University of London. One of her notable works is the documentary 365 Days Following Thai High School Students (2007), which closely observes the pressures and emotional realities faced by Thai students within the education system.
Her work often combines observational storytelling with critical social perspectives, reflecting ongoing interests in film, contemporary culture, and visual studies. Currently, she is also involved in teaching and academic research alongside her filmmaking practice.

Sasawat Boonsri
Biography
Satsawat graduated from the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Chiang Mai University. He specializes in short films, film criticism, and film history.
He previously served as a member of the Film and Video Consideration Committee under the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, as well as a committee member for the Young Producer Project 2024–2025 and the Micro Cinema Fund Grant Committee 2025.
Currently, he is a full-time lecturer in the Film Program, Department of Communication Arts, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Silpakorn University, where he teaches screenwriting, film theory, and film criticism.

Uruphong Raksasad
Biography
Uruphong Raksasad is an independent filmmaker and film lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Thammasat University. Most of his work consists of documentaries about rural Thailand, depicting its way of life, traditions, beliefs, and past political movements.
Uruphong Raksasad was named a Silpathorn Artist (in the field of Film and Moving Image, 2017) and received a UNESCO Award for his film "Agrarian Utopia" at the 3rd Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia. He has also received numerous other awards from international film festivals and national film competitions.
