International ADCN Student Documentary Pitching Competition

As part of SDOC BKK, the festival will host the International ADCN Student Documentary Pitching Competition, a special pitching platform developed in collaboration with the Asia Documentary Co-Production Network (ADCN), a long-term documentary collaboration network connecting film schools, professors, and young filmmakers across Asia since 2015.

The pitching competition will invite student documentary projects from universities within the ADCN network, including partners from Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and other Asian countries. Participating institutions and collaborators within the network include Korea National University of Arts, Yonsei University, Komazawa University, Kyoto University of the Arts, Tainan National University of the Arts, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University, Yunnan Arts University, Chulalongkorn University, and Bangkok University.

Selected projects will receive partial production support grants to further develop their documentaries through cross-border collaboration, mentorship, and co-production dialogue. The platform aims to encourage young filmmakers to develop documentary projects that reflect contemporary Asian experiences, while building sustainable creative connections between universities and the documentary industry in the region.

Over the past decade, ADCN projects and workshops have been connected with activities and screenings at the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, one of Asia’s leading documentary festivals, where student collaborative works from the network have been presented internationally.

The International ADCN Student Documentary Pitching Competition at SDOC BKK hopes to continue expanding these connections and create new opportunities for emerging documentary filmmakers in Asia.
